Florida LCV Endorses More than 50 Candidates in First Round of Endorsements
The Florida League of Conservation Voters has been monitoring public officials and the policies they support for more than 27 years. For many of those years, the FLCV has endorsed those candidates whose records and/or their positions on important challenges to the future of Florida’s natural areas and the protection of our communities from environmental health hazards. In the 2000 election cycle, the FLCV evaluated more than one hundred candidates and endorsed 72. Of those, 27 were elected to public office in 2000.
This year, fifty activists at a meeting in June, nominated and considered nearly
80 candidates. After review of the candidates' records, the FLCV formally announced
its first round of endorsements, more than fifty candidates for public office,
ranging from county commission races in several counties around the state, to
legislative seats, to Congressional races and state wide races. To learn how
